Common Disc Conditions

A herniated or slipped disc is a common disc condition that we see daily. This typically happens after a sudden traumatic injury or a slip-and-fall when the back is jerked quickly. The vertebrae in the spine are made of thin stacked discs that are filled with a jelly type substance. When the disc in the spine cracks this disrupts the inner material.

As a result of this crack, the disc may bulge outward pressing against the surrounding nerve endings. This causes a lot of pain. You can also have a slipped disc where the entire disc has slipped from its position. This leaves you with a pinched feeling in the area of the injury, as well as pain due to muscle inflammation.

Chiropractic Care for Disc Conditions

Treating disc conditions is safe and effective through chiropractic care at Mael Chiropractic. Our chiropractor works with you to improve your spinal pain by using various spinal manipulations and chiropractic adjustments. This can often include traditional manual adjustments, as well as treatments using instruments and tools. Let us help you to choose the right type of chiropractic care for your particular disc condition and provide the pain relief that you need.

Treatment Using Physiotherapy

We also use physiotherapy to provide muscle therapy for our patients. If you have tense muscles especially around the neck region, you can choose physiotherapy. This therapy helps with improving your mobility and any joint conditions. The treatment also allows you to manage chronic pain in the muscles and disc region. You’ll also see an increase in circulation that is great for speeding up injury recovery. If you have recently had an auto injury, sports injury, or other types of injury, it’s good to start treatment as soon as possible for the best results.
